I was contacted by a school in California looking for logo concepts for a new fundraising campaign. Here are a couple of the designs I created. I am very happy with my results!

Brand Identity - The Sushi Co.
For this assignment we were to redeisgn a logo for an exsisting company or a made-up one. I chose to create a logo for a fictitious sushi restaurant. For the final mounted presentation I also created chopstick sleeves, pinback buttons, a take-out bag and t-shirt designs.

Logo Redesign Assignment
Back to school and back to homework. One of the first assignments in my new Commercial Art class at Madonna University was to design a logo for myself and then we had to switch with another person in the class and redesign their logo. We had to keep in mind what the other person wanted to convey with their logo. Jackie, whose logo I redesigned (and who preferred her middle name Amy), wanted to convey duality or opposites. These are just a few of the designs I came up with. Overall I think this a was a very clever assignment!

I recently opened up a Cafepress shop to sell some of my Silly Monkey designs. I thought it might be a good way to make some extra money to help pay for school. Available are various t-shirts for men and women, baby clothes and bibs, hats, tote bags and note cards. Check it out!

Combining Graphic Design with Jewelry Design
Among all the art that I do, fiber art - paper art - graphic art, jewelry design is one of my favorites. Recently I decided to take elements of my graphic design work to create pendants using shrink plastic (yes, shrinky dinks from the good old days). These little pieces of art are now available from my Etsy shop Barrel of Monkeys.

Theatre of the Absurd Business Cards
A friend of mine asked me to create a business card for her brother. Craig is a DJ... well he's more than that... he is a performance artist, musician, downtempo producer who composes awesome mood music. His work has been described as lounge music, background music, minimalist music that doesn't like minimalist music. Craig's music is so different that I knew the card I designed for him needed to be different too. The card measures 3x3 and has his logo on one side and his info on the other.

Donna's Business Cards

Donna asked me to create a card design that was simple and included a lot of white space. I came up with a couple different designs. She liked them both and wants both designs printed.

Owl for Abby
Title: Owl for Abby
Software: Illustrator
My niece Abigail recently had her 'Bridging to Brownies' ceremony. My sister asked me to design an owl for a tree to use as a prop for the ceremony (an owl is part of the Girl Scout story). I liked the little owl so much I decided to give him his own little world to reside in.
Congrats Abby! Love you!

New Business Cards
Title: JNHK Graphic Design
Software: Illustrator
The other week my new business cards arrived that I ordered through an on-line printer. I started the JNHK logo for a couple of college assignments last semester and then developed it into a business card. I'm really happy with the quality of the printing and the overall look.
Now on to finding lots of fun freelance work!
